The distance between the fog and I seemed endless. But as it rolled and I drifted, or maybe it drifted and I rolled, nothing felt right. There was no anxiety or fear, but an uncertainty. The fog grew thicker. I drew a deep breath and sighed as the conflict of sleep and gazing into the fog raged in me. Within a single blink, everything went black, except for the fog. I could hear in the distance the sounds of what seemed to be saddness and loneliness. The fog thickened as the sounds grew to deafening heights. Suddenly, it was quiet again.
